Our second meeting of the committee was very fruitful and we want to report the progress that has been made to date.
1. Theme for Homecoming 2006 is "Together Again". Our theme song will be "We're Together Again" and we will sing it at the beginning and throughout the week-end.
2. The Program committee is in process of developing plans, as follows:
Friday night: Coffeehouse setting in the gym with singers (music from our past), fellowship and renewing acquaintances with old friends. Julie Smith has kindly offered to make smoothies for that night.
Saturday (day): Morning in the gym for young adults, coffee and donuts.
Young children and teens will be entertained with games and activities while their parents visit. Planned golf outing open to all golfers being planned by Bruce Smith. He will be asking for RSVPs later . Shopping trip for the non-golfers in the afternoon to the unique downtown Morris shops.
Saturday (night): Catered meal at 5:00. History of the church, slide show of old pictures with people and events of the past. The committee is working on getting "acts" together (The California Raisins, Hans and Franz, Uncle Maynard, Jeff Higginson singing the Cowboy song, Lot's Wife with Dottie Enger). If you thoroughly enjoyed the 40th year celebration a few months ago, you will be happy to also see some of the same acts from that night.
Sunday: Regular Sunday service with Chuck giving the message. There may be others that will participate also. These details have not been finalized. The "Timothys" and charter members of the congregation will be recognized. Past members of the choir will be invited to participate with the current choir members in one or two of the old songs. Other plans not yet finalized. Finger foods in the gym following church for those who would like to stay and visit. No evening service.
