Rainbow Preschool
Rainbow Preschool is a program for 3 and 4 year olds Licensed by the State of Illinois, directed and taught by Christians who are members of First Christian Church, and aimed at introducing young people to the world of learning and socializing in a Christian atmosphere. Rainbow Preschool began holding classes in August of 1985 under the ownership of First Christian Church. The Preschool continues to meet in the church's facility and is governed by a Preschool Board which reports to the Church Board. The Director reports to the Preschool Board.
The purpose of Rainbow Preschool is to provide a Christian atmosphere where three and four year old children can develop a positive attitude toward school and learning. The preschool offers creative learning experiences in language development, fine and gross motor development, and socialization skills in which each child is allowed to progress at his/her own pace. The goal of the three year old program is to develop social skills while working with basic pre-reading skills (shapes, colors, etc.). The four year old program is designed to prepare the children for kindergarten. Basic pre-reading skills are reviewed and children work with the alphabet, numbers, writing their names, phone numbers, addresses, etc.
Rainbow Preschool serves children ages three and four years old, by Sept. 1 of the school year they will be enrolled. The school year begins in early September and runs to the end of May. Specific dates vary each year.
