Our NEW Family Life Center is completed!

The community was invited to participate in the Dedication of the new Family Life Center at First Christian Church of Morris on Sunday, September 26 at 4 p.m. The theme of the service was “New Beginnings. Tom Cater was our Guest Speaker. The service included worship and special music and concluded with a special release of monarch butterflies. Tours and refreshments were provided after the program.

The Family Life Center provides 17,100 additional square feet of space and includes a full size gym, a stage and storage in the gym, an elevated sound room in gym, a kitchen with pantry and work island, two 72-person seminar rooms, 4 classrooms, 3 staff offices, work areas and storage for support staff, an elevator to the existing basement, a foyer, washrooms with showers, and a new covered entrance.

The ultimate goals of this project were to enhance our fellowship opportunities, bring new families to our building for events or classes, increase classroom/office space, and to be able to rely less on external entities for our functions.

The facility was designed and built by the Aspen Group, a company which specializes in church buildings.

On August 10, 2003 First Christian Church broke ground on this facility. More that 200 people participated in the Groundbreaking. Several types of shovels were used to demonstrate how a variety of gifts and abilities are needed to complete the task. Dr. Chuck Richardson, Lead Minister, pointed out that God has blessed the church with a variety of abilities and each of us needs to discover and use ours.
